Connecting and supporting our community library for over 10 years

Mickleover Library User Group

The Mickleover Library User Group (MLUG) have actively supported the 'new' Mickleover Library since it opened in 2007.

Some of the original founding members of the MLUG were involved in the public consultation process prior to the library opening and then went on to form the group after the library had opened.  We are one of the most successful library user groups in Derby and still have founding members of the group regularly attending meetings and events.

If you would like to join the group, please come along to the next scheduled meeting to find out more information.  We are always looking for people who can help at the events or who have ideas.

Mickleover Library History

This purpose built library building replaced the old library which had shared the Mickleover Memorial Hall with several other groups for many years.

The 'new' Mickleover Library building was formally opened on July 12th, 2007.

The buildings facilities include:-
internet access within the main library area,
          a meeting room.

The local 'beat bobbies' now have a permanent base within the library and this brings them right into the heart of our community.

In 2018 the library was remodelled which meant the interview room and the dedicated ICT suite were incorporated into the main library floor area.  This increased the total display area available to the library and would help Derby Libraries display more books after the Councils reorganisation of the Library services in Derby.

Since the library opened in 2007, the Mickleover Library has seen a year on year increase in the number of visitors and it ranked as the second highest used library after the old Central Library that used to be situated in The Wardwick (up until mid 2018).
