The group invited Jane James to give a talk on the history of Mickleover to the group.
Jane started by telling the group about the first rise of Mickleover from 1801 to the present day. The first detailed census was carried out by the Reverend John Ward and he went above and beyond what he was required to do. He recorded more detail than was required on the census form and this now gives us an insight into the makeup of the village at that time.
The village consisted of around 100 dwellings and has grown to its current size of over 6,500 dwellings.
